TEDDY BEARS GOES HOLLYWOOD
On Oct
20th, local Claremont, NH resident, Sharon Meier; a.k.a.
Meier Mountain Teddy Bears attended the 9th annual Silver
Spur Awards in Hollywood, Ca. These awards honor both film & TV
people who are either in front or behind the cameras in the making
of westerns and fundraising for numerous charities.
Sharon
was chosen to hand craft one of her famous teddy bears for the
Silver Spur Awards benefit silent auction for the Tri-Valley Special
Olympics. Sharon hand crafted a cowboy teddy bear dressed in a hand
crafted western outfit complete with a real miniature felt cowboy
hat, a leather holster complete with a miniature pistol and bandelero
bullet belt. The teddy bear was sitting on a real miniature western
saddle. The wooden horse for the teddy bear was made by local
resident Barry Brunelle of Unity, NH.. For more information on

Among
the other items donated to the silent auction were items from Jim
Arness a.k.a. Matt Dillon from TV’s Gunsmoke, a hand painting by
Buck Taylor a.k.a. Newley Obrian of the TV show Gunsmoke, as well as
personal items from the late Dennis Weaver estate, and much more
from others.
The
Emcee for the award show was Ben Cooper. This years Honorees
are Barbara Eden, Morgan Freeman, Gerald McRaney, Michael Dante, Don
Murray and stuntman Erik Cord.
The
presenters of the awards are Larry Hagman, Dawn Wells, Jameison
Parker, Morgan Woodward, Andrew Prine and Ross Hagen.
Special
Tribute to Dennis Weaver presented by Linda Gray.
Live
music was performed by Larry Dean and the Shooters. Larry Dean's
music has been featured in many films including Deep Impact
starring Robert Duvall.
Also
appearing are the western performers, The Foothill Vigilantes.
